Project 3 Reconstruction Dakar Tashi Gompa (buddhist monastery) and 3 Stupa with Mani Wall – Sherpa Land
Patle – District of Okhaldhunga – Nepal-Himalayas
The small Sherpa village is located at an altitude of approx. 2,500 m and currently, 21 families live here. Our project covers the restoration of a 25 m long mani wall and of two stupas (height 3,5 m). The whole complex was built approx. 250 years ago in order to strengthen dharma activity in Sherpa country, as protection against diseases, bad harvests and other obstacles for the beings in this valley.
This Dharma Raja is one of the ancestors of Siegrich Bach (né Sherpa), one of the founders of the Sowa Rigpa Foundatin in Boppard / Rhine, Germany.
The complex was damaged resp. destroyed during the earthquakes of 25th April and 2nd May, 2015. Unfortunately, we cannot yet identify the extent of the damage. As soon as we have further information from the mountainside, we will inform you on this website.
